Local Marine thanks hospital auxiliary for gifts to his unit in Iraq

FALLBROOK — Dominic Mora, a local Marine and husband of Fallbrook Hospital Admitting Representative Lisa Mora, expressed his gratitude to the Hospital Auxiliary members on behalf of his unit Wednesday for their generous donation of gifts during the holidays. “My unit was overwhelmed with joy and it made them feel close to home during a very difficult time in Iraq,” says Mora. “We wanted to give the auxiliary this unique tapestry to show what it means to us to have their support.”

Lisa had spoken to her husband before the holidays when he mentioned to her that his men needed things to do “in their down time.” Lisa shared this with Peggy Comeau, a hospital volunteer, and when Peggy presented the idea of donating gifts to Dominic’s unit at an auxiliary meeting, she received an overwhelming response of personal donations and a donation from the Hospital Auxiliary. They purchased sporting equipment such as soccer balls, baseballs and bats, Frisbees and several varieties of hand-held games. The Temecula Wal-Mart donated an additional $100 worth of sporting goods. Peggy and her nieces Carolyn and Taylor Steele individually wrapped each item, and they were boxed and shipped to Iraq in time for the holidays. “We are so happy to be able to support these men. They put their lives in danger for us every day; it’s the least we can do to help,” says Peggy.
