Male pedestrian struck by car identified

Rodrigo Avalos, 52, of Fallbrook, was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital with a broken leg, abrasions and a possible broken hip after being hit by a car while walking on East Mission this morning. The car was a 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage driven by Audrey Corcoran, 82, of Fallbrook, who was making a right hand turn from Minnesota Ave. onto East Mission Road according to CHP officer Eric Newbury.

A pedestrian was life-flighted to a nearby hospital after being struck by a car on East Mission Street just after 11:00 a.m. today.

According to Sheriff substation commander Lt. Phil Brust, the incident occurred on the 400 block of East Mission, just west of Minnesota Street. California Highway Patrol officers and Sheriff's deputies are on scene.

It is not yet known who was at fault.
