Man sought in connection with trying to lure 9-year-old Fallbrook girl into car

Sheriff's Dept. authorities said they are seeking a male suspect in connection with an incident that took place yesterday afternoon, Thurs., January 17, near La Paloma Elementary School in Fallbrook.

Sheriff's Lt. Todd Richardson, described the incident that took place at about 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Heald Lane.

"Fallbrook deputies responded to the La Paloma Elementary School to investigate a report of a nine-year-old female student being asked to get into a stranger's car," said Richardson. "Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to the student."

Richardson said the student "was standing in front of the school waiting for a family member to pick her up when a white truck driven by a white male adult stopped next to her."

"The driver attempted to coax the young girl into his vehicle, while partially hiding his face," he said. "The male did not get out of the truck and the student did not get in. The student backed away from the truck and was helped by a parent of another student who was parked nearby. The driver of the truck drove away."

Richardson said the parent helped the student into the principal's office and called the Sheriff's Department.

"The student describes the suspect as a white man, heavy set, between 40 and 50 years old with redness on the skin in the neck and arm area," he said.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Fallbrook Sheriff's substation at (760) 451-3100. It is possible to remain anonymous and be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward by calling Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
