Detectives with the Fallbrook Sheriff's substation have launched a search for suspects wanted in connection with a stabbing that occurred last night.

According to Sgt. James Cady, the incident took place on Thursday, June 12 at approximately 10 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Vine Street in Fallbrook.

Officers became aware of the stabbing when they were called by Fallbrook Hospital after the emergency room had received the victim for medical treatment.

"Deputies responded to the hospital and learned that the victim had sustained multiple stab wounds at a nearby location (on South Vine St.)," said Cady. "The victim stated that several unknown Hispanic males issued him a gang challenge, and then assaulted him."

Cady said the victim was able to walk away from the scene and then was transported by a family member to the hospital.
