Man who robbed Temecula bank caught and arrested in Hemet after consecutive bank robberies

TEMECULA – On September 18, officers from the Temecula Police Department responded to a bank robbery that had just occurred at the Chase Bank located at 29640 Rancho California Road in Temecula.

Investigators from the Temecula Police Department responded to the scene and quickly noted that the suspect description and method of operation in this case matched information regarding two recent bank robberies in the city of Hemet. The Temecula Police Investigators contacted the Hemet Police Department and were able to develop information that identified the suspect in the Temecula Bank Robbery on September 18 as being Rodney Jeter, 21, of Hemet.

On September 27, Jeter was arrested by the Hemet Police Department in the city of Hemet for the two bank robbery cases in their city. He was later booked into the Southwest Detention Center for those cases. Additional charges regarding the bank robbery in Temecula are being filed against Jeter as well.

Anyone with further information regarding these crimes is encouraged to contact Investigator Grassel at the Temecula Police Department at 951-696-3000.

TEMECULA – A man claiming that he was in possession of a bomb robbed a Temecula bank today, fleeing with a wad of cash before sheriff’s deputies could reach the location.

The robbery occurred around 11 a.m. at a Chase bank branch in the 29600 block of Rancho California Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The lone suspect approached a teller window, slipped an employee a note saying he was armed with an explosive device and wanted money, said sheriff’s Lt. Doug McGrew.

The teller complied with the demand, handing over an undisclosed amount of cash, at which point the robber walked out of the bank and drove away in a silver-colored Chrysler PT Cruiser, heading west on Rancho California toward Interstate 15, McGrew said.

No one was injured.

The bandit was described as about 25 years old, with a medium build and shaved head. He was wearing eyeglasses, a long-sleeved beige shirt and burgundy pants.

Anyone with information about the robbery was urged to call the sheriff’s Temecula Station at (951) 696-3000.

He was black. He looked like a regular guy. The surveillance is very clear. He didn’t wear anything to change his look. I would be surprised if they don’t get him quickly.

No pictures released of him in a bank filled with cameras? Sounds like they don’t want to catch this guy.

My belief is that they don’t release picture unless necessary, they probably have good leads. Secret service, FBI, pretty sure they have a good idea.

The irony is that after the heist, he was going to Fallbrook to buy drugs.

Put a $10,000.00 reward on him and one of his buddies will sell him out in about 15 minutes.

Would you prefer he robbed a Fallbrook bank and bought drugs in Temecula?

"Put a $10,000.00 reward on him and one of his buddies will sell him out in about 15 minutes."

In this economy, his "buddies" would settle for about $12.00.

Yes there seems to be an epidemic of ‘white tweekers’ doing crime, and also blacks. The hispanics are out there being criminals too, but the more consistant issue is the age group – mostly under thirty somethings. Perhaps its a sign of the times??

@Turn: I believe comment #8 was speaking tongue in cheek because of the big drug raid in Fallbrook on Tuesday, perhaps you didn’t hear about it. Anyway it was a funny remark.

Photos are clear as a bell and have been on the right side of the story all day. It seems that some of you are all about jumping on the "bash FVN reporting staff without checking it out yourself" bandwagon……how embarrassed are you now? lol

This guy is going to get busted. If not from his buddies, family, etc., then from facial recognition software. What a dork.

Hmmm… A consumer robbing the banks.

    Somewhat ironic, isn’t it?

It sounds as if he was in compliance with all applicable government banking regulations.

    Except for one little thing……

If you look to the right of the article heading you’ll notice a black man at the teller window, duh. Does that answer your question as to what race he is?
