Marine pronounced dead after being found unresponsive

CAMP PENDLETON - A Hawaii-based Marine who was attending a military education academy in California was pronounced dead Thursday after being found unresponsive in his barracks at Camp Pendleton.

The Marine, whose name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, was found unresponsive about 8 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Marine Times.

He had checked into the staff/non-commissioned officer academy on Monday to attend the advanced career course.

He was assigned to Headquarters Battalion out of Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and temporarily assigned to Camp Pendleton, according to the Marines Corps.
