Military exercise likely to impact traffic at Interstate 5 and Basilone Road exit

CAMP PENDLETON - Camp Pendleton units will be conducting an amphibious assault Tuesday evening, July 16, at the Green Beach training area which is adjacent to San Onofre State Beach.

As part of the training, 15 Assault Amphibious Vehicles from the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit will be required to exit the beach by driving along Old Highway 101 and crossing the Basilone Road overpass of Interstate 5 to reach inland training areas.

Drivers in the area may encounter intermittent traffic delays between 8:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

This transit will involve temporarily blocking portions of Old Highway 101 as well as the north and southbound off-ramps of Interstate 5 at Exit 71, Basilone Road.
