New church ahead of schedule, under budget

Construction of the new church for St. Peter’s Catholic Community is a couple of weeks ahead of schedule, and a little under budget as well, according to Father Bud Kaicher. On August 1 he said that 70 to 80 percent of the site work had been done, with the roof to be put on in the following two weeks.

Although parking at the church has been a challenge for parishioners, the contractor was scheduled to pave the new lot August 5 and 6, so there will be plenty of parking spaces available for use about a week after that.

The use of the nearby parish hall has not been affected despite its proximity to the construction site. The new church is expected to be completed next May.
