PHOTOS: Color Ye Irish Run brings happy marathoners to Temecula

On Saturday, March 16, 2013, outfitted with vibrant green Irish accessories, white t-shirts and more importantly, their smiles, eccentric marathoners come to Galway Downs to participate in the Color Ye Irish run in Temecula.

Thousands of happy runners and walkers brought their positive attitude to the 5k course to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. People of all fitness levels, from small children to even an 82-year-old-man took on the colorful course. Runners were given packets of color dyed corn starch (non-toxic and edible) of each color of the Irish flag. Color thrown from the packets up in the air at the start of each wave of runners, where soon following, thick plumes of Irish colors engulfed the runners as they began their race laughing and smiling ear-to-ear.

Each kilometer of the run, participants were met with a new dusting of color from the Ireland flag, marking a new pattern of color to their white t-shirt. Some to the face, some missed, but everyone was smiling.

Healthy Races hosted the event. Their next event is the very popular Temecula Mud Run at Vail Lake Resort on April 20, 2013.

Regarding the Color Ye Irish Run, Healthy Races states, "This is not so much about the speed or endurance, but a celebration of color, life and being Irish for a day."
