Police asking for help in identifying Temecula carjackers

TEMECULA - A motorist was struck over the head today by a carjacking suspect in Temecula, a sheriff's sergeant said.

The victim was approached by two men in the 28900 block of Old Town Front Street. One of the suspects pulled out a black semiautomatic pistol, demanded the car keys to the victim's black Subaru Impreza and then hit him over the head, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Kevin McDonald said.

The two suspects fled in the four-door sedan with the California license plate number 5PBK915. The victim declined medical treatment following the 5:26 a.m. incident, McDonald said.

The suspects were described at Latinos in their mid-20s. One was about 5 foot 6 with a medium build and wore a black knit cap, a black long-sleeve sweater and brown shorts.

The second suspect was about 5 foot 8, had a medium to large build and wore short black hair, a gray sweatshirt and blue pants.

Sheriff's officials urged anyone with information about the carjacking to call sheriff's Investigator Brett Devine at the Temecula station at (951) 696-3000.
