PUBLIC NOTICE

The North County Fire Protection District is seeking qualified contractors to respond to the open bid process for vegetation management. Vegetation management includes clearing of brush, dead trees and mowing of grasses on vacant properties and around structures and along roadways. The program includes abatement of hazards when owners fail to bring their properties into compliance with adopted ordinance(s) and billing customers for work performed. Packages containing a complete description are available at the North County Fire Protection District Headquarters, 315 East Ivy Street, Fallbrook, California, 92028-2138. Packages must be picked up in person.

Completion of a Schedule of Fees, as set forth in the bid package, is a required element of bid submission. It is the interest of the District to have a contract that includes billing services for forced abatement performed by the contractor. This may result in higher fees to the customer and/or the District as noted in the Schedule of Fees. Contractors may submit two separate proposals, one that includes provision of billing services by the contractor and one without. However, the District will only consider bid consider bid proposals in which the District performs billing services if no bids are received which offer billing services by the contractor.

A pre-bid conference will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2005, at 8:00 a.m., at the Roy Noon Meeting Hall, 231 East Hawthorne, Fallbrook, California, 92028-2138. Sealed bids must be received no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2005, at the North County Fire Protection District Headquarters, Fire Prevention Bureau. For further information, contact Fire Marshal Stephen Abbott at (760) 723-2015.
