One of Fallbrook’s most popular annual events for local families will take place a bit earlier this year. The annual Pancake Breakfast and Spring Egg Hunt, held at the Fallbrook Community Center will take place on Saturday, March 23, the weekend prior to Easter.
Members of the Fallbrook Firefighters Association will take to the kitchen once again to cook up a delicious pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. for community members. The meal, consisting of pancakes, sausage, juice, milk and coffee is available for a donation of $5 for adults and $4 for children 12 years and younger. Proceeds benefit future events.
“The firefighters donate all the proceeds back to the Friends of the Fallbrook Community Center,” said Gordon Stone, director of the community center. “John Choi has been coordinating the breakfast for the last two years and he has been very successful getting all the items donated.”
Stone said the event is always well-attended.
“It’s a fun tradition to see the firefighters in the kitchen making pancakes,” he said. “They are so organized and efficient and they do it all with a smile on their face. They are a great bunch of people.”
The Spring Bunny will be on hand to meet and greet children during the breakfast and into the traditional Spring Egg Hunt.
Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the festivities will move to the field at La Paloma School, which is within walking distance of the community center.
Free events at the field will include egg hunts for a variety of age groups
“We will have four age groups – Under 5 years old, 5 to 6 years, 7 to 8 years, and 9 to 12,” said Stone. The hunts will be followed by fun family games. Parents and children can participate in sack races, egg tosses, and bubble-blowing and have a chance to win gift certificates that have been donated. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
“We will be assisted by members of National Charity League for the event and also have Miss Fallbrook and her court in attendance,” said Stone.
Stone said more volunteers and donations of prizes are welcome to help make the event as successful as possible. For more information, call (760) 728-1671.
