Steinbeck Country trip

There are still a few spaces available for the Friends of the Fallbrook Library’s “Journey to John Steinbeck Country” April 8 to 10. The weekend in the Salinas-Monterey area, birthplace of the Nobel Prize-winning author, will include two lectures on Steinbeck, an outdoor lecture at Point Lobos on the natural history of the area, lunch at Steinbeck’s house, a visit to the Steinbeck Center, a walking tour of Cannery Row and a relaxing wine tasting Saturday evening.

The price includes round-trip luxury bus transportation, hotel accommodations (double occupancy room with private bath in Carmel Valley), tours and guides and all meals except lunch and dinner on the bus trip. The bus will depart from the Fallbrook Library parking lot at 7:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, and return Sunday evening, April 10. Travelers need not be members of the Friends to participate. For cost and more information or to reserve space, contact Harry Carpenter at (760) 723-1893.

John Steinbeck is the featured author for the Second Annual Community Read sponsored by Friends and this trip is one of several events planned to highlight the life and writings of this legendary American author.
