Stolen property recovered in search can be viewed

Victims of home burglaries from August 2004 through February of 2005 have the opportunity to view a considerable amount of recovered stolen property seized by Fallbrook Sheriff’s Detectives in a search warrant executed March 1 at a Fallbrook residence.

Detective Theresa Adams-Hydar reports, “There are three to four thousand items recovered from several residences and businesses in the northern San Diego County region. In Fallbrook alone, this case involved over 20 houses.” While some of the property has been identified by serial/model numbers, attached name tags and descriptions from crime reports, Adams-Hydar says there is still a large amount of property that has not been identified and needs to be returned to the rightful owners. Items include real and costume jewelry, pieces of art, large appliances and much more.

In order to view the property, you must be in possession of a copy of your related crime report and stolen property list that was previously filed with law enforcement authorities. Copies of these reports can be obtained by notifying the original detective assigned to your case.

A viewing of the property mentioned will take place on Friday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Property and Evidence building, located at 5255 Mount Etna Drive in San Diego (Clairemont Mesa area). The Thomas Guide map reference is 1248 G-2.

“Be prepared to take any identified property with you at the time of viewing,” Adams-Hydar said. “Many of the items are large and may require a truck or large vehicle for removal from the warehouse.”

Questions may be directed to the Fallbrook Sheriff’s Station Detective Unit at (760) 451-3100.
