The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with Collaborative Services, Inc., to provide community outreach services for public works improvement projects.
The March 2 approval calls for Collaborative Services to provide as-needed outreach services and to develop a strategy and implement an action plan for community outreach to encourage public participation and support. The contract will provide compensation of up to $300,000 and will terminate on February 28, 2008, unless funds are exhausted or services are no longer required, in which case the contract will terminate earlier.
The Mission Road Phase II project is one upcoming project in which the consultant services are expected to be utilized. Services to be provided by the consultant include but are not limited to identification of stakeholders, facilitation and coordination of public involvement, consensus building, establishing and staffing a project construction hotline, supporting county staff during community and environmental scoping meetings, preparing fact sheets, and other methods to assist project managers and resident engineers in the completion of projects on time and within budget. The consultant is also expected to obtain an understanding of all community, environmental, business, and right-of-way issues involving the project and to assist the project manager and county engineer in identifying strategies to implement the project as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
The county selected six firms for the services and selected Collaborative Services, which is based in San Diego, as the consultant to provide community outreach.
