UPDATE: Medical Examiner releases identity of woman who jumped off State Route 76 overcrossing onto Interstate 15 in Fallbrook

Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning (Thurs., May 8), the San Diego County Medical's Examiner's Office released the identity of the woman who jumped off the State Route 76 overcrossing onto Interstate 15 in Fallbrook on Sunday night, April 27.

According to the Medical Examiner, Pamela Suzanne Whitney, 52 of Vista jumped from the overcrossing at approximately 9:29 p.m. that night.

Described by authorities as a divorced, white female, Whitney was said to have been residing in a home with her mother in Vista.

According to investigators "The California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call from a driver who stated a body had been struck by multiple vehicles on southbound Interstate 15 near the State Route 76 overpass in Fallbrook. CHP and fire department personnel arrived shortly after and confirmed her death due to severe dismemberment and obvious signs of trauma. Law enforcement officers stated it had appeared that the decedent may have jumped from the State Route 76 overpass onto the number one lane where witnesses stated she was initially struck."

The Medical Examiner listed the official cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries.

Person commits suicide by jumping off State Route 76 over-crossing down onto Interstate 15 in Fallbrook

FALLBROOK - The California Highway Patrol has reported that the closure of Interstate 15 at State Route 76 last night was due to a person committing suicide by jumping off the over-crossing and down onto the freeway.

The incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 27.

After landing on the interstate, the person was struck by multiple vehicles. Two lanes of the highway were shutdown over night.

No further information, including the name of the deceased, has been released at this time.
