Van knocks down telephone pole on E. Mission in Fallbrook, traffic detoured to Gum Tree

11:30 am: SDG&E estimates power will be restored to the area by 3:30 pm; the Sheriff's Dept. said E. Mission has not been reopened yet.

9 am: There is still gridlock on Gum Tree Ln. but traffic has lightened up from earlier this morning.

8 am: Road closure moved to Hamilton and E. Mission, detouring traffic to Gum Tree Lane.

FALLBROOK - About 4:45 am this morning, a van hit a telephone pole, knocking the telephone pole on top of the van on E. Mission near Fallen Leaf in Fallbrook. SDGE has a crew replacing the pole on E. Mission.

Road closures are set up at Live Oak Park Road and E. Mission and Stagecoach Lane and E. Mission to detour traffic to Gum Tree. As of 7 am traffic was backed up at least a mile in all directions.

The accident left several lines down in the roadway.

Apparently the driver is unhurt.

SDGE had 51 customers without power as a result of the accident.
