Whaley, Warbrick win jams and jellies awards at county fair

Fallbrook residents Jennifer Whaley and Lisa Warbrick won awards for jams and jellies they made and entered in the San Diego County Fair’s home and hobby competition.

Whaley received two first-place awards, two second-place ribbons, and a third-place result. Warbrick’s jams included one which won second place and one which obtained honorable mention recognition.

Whaley’s sangria jelly took first place among wine jellies. She also entered a brandy peach conserve in the “other than listed” category of the miscellaneous division and won first place for that.

The jam division also had an “other than listed” category, and Whaley took second place for her salsa jam. Her other second place was for her margarita jelly in the “other than listed” category for jellies. Whaley’s third-place ribbon was in the jellies division for mint jelly entries.

Warbrick took second place in the peach class of the jam division. Her honorable mention jam was in the mixed fruits class for two or more fruits including any berry; Warbrick combined peach and raspberry.
