Wind warning issued for San Diego County

SAN DIEGO - Winds blowing up to 35 miles per hour were expected to hit San Diego County late today.

The National Weather Service issued a wind warning for the county's mountains and deserts today.

Winds from the west will blow at sustained speeds of 20-35 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph. They will be at their strongest between this afternoon and evening, and die down at about 10 p.m. tonight.

Blowing dust and sand may affect traffic, particularly on desert freeways and highways, the NWS advised.

The service cautioned high profile vehicles traveling these areas to drive carefully due to the high winds and low visibility.
