Vintage Car Club dedicates Whit Whittinghill memorial plaque

Fallbrook – On March 6, a plaque honoring the late Whit Whittinghill was dedicated and affixed to the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club’s (FVCC) memorial bench located at 120 S. Main Ave.

The memorial bench was established in 2011 with the passing of Fallbrook notable Marvin Van Voorst as a means for the FVCC to honor past members who gave their time and dedication to support the many people and organizations in need throughout the local community.

Whittinghill passed away on Jan. 30 at the age of 75. In the dedication ceremony, FVCC president Roy Moosa spoke highly of Whittinghill’s many years of active participation in the car club, especially his management of the club’s car show program booklet which was a big fundraiser for the club as well as his involvement in arranging to have this year’s car show held at the Pala Mesa resort.

After the dedication, Whittinghill’s plaque was mounted on the bench along side those honoring deceased members Van Voorst and Monty Voigt.

Besides the FVCC, Whittinghill was active in his fraternity, Zeta Sigma, the Fallbrook Oaks HOA, as well as always giving a helping hand to many of his friends and neighbors in his community.

His one true passion was the love of vintage cars, especially his beautifully restored red, ’59 Corvette which he always made available for fundraisers, parades and car shows. He was a member of the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club, the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Corvette Club of America.
