Babs Somacal

Fallbrook lost a pioneer resident, Babs Somacal, on May 26, 2005. Born May 13, 1917, in Fallbrook, CA, to Rex & Josephine Reader in their residence where the San Diego County Library is now located, Babs attended school and graduated high school in 1936. In 1944 Babs married Geno Somacal, a Fallbrook resident since 1911. They had been married for 46 years when he passed away on April 10, 1991.

Mrs. Somacal is survived by her daughter Jo Anne Stretton, Fallbrook, CA; four grandsons, Fred Granzella, Hemet, CA, and Larry, Harold, & Michael Granzella, all of Fallbrook, CA; and six great-grandchildren. At Babs’ request there will be no services and her final resting place will be at the Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations go to the St. John’s Episcopal Church building fund, 434 N. Iowa St., Fallbrook, CA 92028, or a charity of your choice.
