Barbara Anne Schmid

Barbara Anne Schmid died quietly at home on June 7, 2005. Born Barbara Anne Kersteiner in Covina, CA on January 21, 1924, she grew up in Coachella, CA graduating from Coachella Valley High School in 1941. She worked at Coachella Valley County Water District for over 20 years (most of that time as Secretary of the Board of Directors), before moving to Fallbrook in 1964. She was active in the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder, a deacon and as a leader in the San Diego County and Southern California Region Synod of Presbyterian Women.

Barbara is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Henry Douglas Schmid; daughter Sue Schmid of San Diego, CA; daughter Darla Schmid of Henderson, NV; son Stewart Schmid of Fallbrook; son Wes Schmid of Indio, CA; six grandchildren (Lori Murphy, Steve Fuss, and Eric, Ryan, Crystal and Ashley Schmid) and one great granddaughter (Heaven); a sister, Katie Livernash and brother, Bill Kersteiner.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or the San Diego Zoological Society. Berry-Bell and Hall Fallbrook Mortuary is handling arrangements.
