Harold John Berger

Harold John Berger was born on April 9, 1920 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Henry and Florence (Hofmann) Berger, the eldest of three brothers, Lloyd and Edward, who predeceased him. He died December 13, 2012.

Harold graduated from Iowa Falls High School. He went to Washington, DC, where he attended Washington University and joined the FBI. He went into counter-espionage as he was fluent in French. After joining the army, he was sent to Europe and spent 2½ years overseas. He was headquartered in the Allied Expeditionary Forces and earned the Bronze Star.

When he came home, he graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in accounting. He worked for Union Oil for 33 years.

Harold is survived by his wife Margaret (Butler) and four children: Brian Berger (Gene), Carolyn Graham (Michael), Kevin Berger (Liz) and Pamela Treister (Neil).

Harold is also survived by seven grandchildren: Colleen McGrew (David), Christina Flinn (Kyle), Maryann Snyder (David), Kellie Berger (Nick Schweitzer), Joseph and Andrew Treister, Dylan Berger (Racquel) and seven great-grandchildren: Kalie, Connor, Kelsey, Liam, Isabelle, Ian and Neko.

Harold was filled with unconditional love for his family and they loved him dearly. They will greatly miss his gentle spirit.
