Mary Virginia Callcott-Hall, 81

Mary Virginia Callcott-Hall passed away suddenly at her residence in Fallbrook on February 16, 2005. She was 81. She was born on April 5, 1923; in New York City to Professor Frank Callcott and Mary Stevenson Callcott.

Mrs. Callcott-Hall was raised and educated in New York City, earning her BA from Barnard College in 1943. At various times in her life, she lived in New York, Los Angeles, central Texas and Fallbrook. Her work included editing and publishing books and teaching English.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy P. Hall, of Fallbrook, CA; son Steve Kahl and his friend Lolly Lewis, San Francisco, CA; daughter Mary Katherine Kahl, South Portland, ME; a large extended family; and numerous others who were special to her, including Jim Slater, Mansfield Center, Los Angeles, CA; Helen Allgreen, Malibu, CA; and Jeff and Rena Martin, Rockdale, TX.

Mary Virginia especially loved animals and the arts. In her later years, she had returned to her early passion of writing and had published several poems.

She will be buried in Junction, TX, next to her parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Friends of Animals, 777 Post Road, Ste. 205, Darien, CT 06802, http://www.friendsofanimals.org, or other organization dedicated to the welfare of animals.
