Mr. Salvatore S. Rizzo, 92

Mr. Salvatore S. Rizzo, 92, passed away on February 8, 2005, at his niece, Cathie Music’s, home. He was born on October 29, 1912, in New York City, NY. He moved to Fallbrook, CA, in May 1999, where he resided with Cathie, who was his caregiver.

Mr. Rizzo retired from Uni-Royal (US Rubber) in Passaic, NJ, in 1972 when the facility closed down. He was a member of St. Joseph Church of the Palisades in Bogota, NJ, belonged to The Holy Name Society, and was a Fourth-Degree Knight in the Bishop O’Connor Knights of Columbus Assembly. He became a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Community in 1999 and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Rizzo was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Anne, in July of 1998. They had no children. He is survived by two brothers, Carl and Mike Rizzo in NJ, and many nieces and nephews in Fallbrook; Fountain Valley, CA; Colorado; New Jersey; and New York. He will be greatly missed.

The Yankees were his team from the first game he saw as a young boy when they opened Yankee Stadium until his death. He actually went to every home game at the stadium until his late 60s but views the games at home.

He shared many stories with so many people, young and old. Anyone who would ask about “the good old days” got interesting information and history. His mind was sharp until the end.

Rosary will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Community. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. The family suggests memorial donations to St. Peter’s Catholic Community, 450 S. Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook, CA 92028, or the Knights of Columbus, same address. Accu-Care in Carlsbad handled the cremation.
