Norbert A. (Bert) Mueller, 79

Norbert A. (Bert) Mueller, 79, died in North Carolina on Tuesday, February 22. He was born in Skokie, IL, on October 17, 1925. He served aboard the USS Indianapolis in the Navy during WWII, then worked for a number of years on the Santa Fe Railroad, where he met and married June Berschens in 1947. In 1955, he joined the San Mateo Fire Department, retiring as their Training Chief in 1981. He retired to Graeagle, CA, for 15 years, eventually relocating to Fallbrook, CA, in 1996. He is predeceased by his first wife June, his second wife Mary Ellen, and his son-in-law, Mark Pittenger. He is survived by sons Kenneth (Priscilla) Mueller of Union City and Andy (Lynn) of Santa Rosa, and daughter Katherine Pittenger of Pleasanton, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of his life are planned for 4:00 p.m. on March 12 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Pleasanton. Donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 657 Mission St., Suite 603, San Francisco, CA 94105-4120.
