Richard Warren Holladay

After a hard fought battle with brain cancer, Richard Warren Holladay died in his home surrounded by family on Dec. 7, 2012.

He was born May 9, 1952 in San Diego, Calif. to Robert Leonard Holladay and Joris Irene Warren Holladay. He spent most of his life in San Diego County. He served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ireland at the age of 19.

Some of his favorite things were studying the scriptures, being with his family, driving his boat, and lifting peoples’ burdens.

He married his best friend, Shelley White Holladay, in the Los Angeles Temple. His wedding ring inscription reads “if ever two were one, then surely we.” This describes their loving relationship perfectly.

He always loved and was proud of his three children and their spouses: Megan (Vinny), Scott (Michelle), and Alex (Hayley). He adored and delighted in his five grandchildren: Micah, Lauren, Cade, Evan, and Pierce.

He was loved by his four siblings: Pamela, Melinda, Rob, and Lore’; his step-mother Jean; and his mother-in-law Myrene.

The essence of what he leaves behind is his deep love for his family; his sense of humor and love of laughter; and his abiding love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec 15 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fallbrook, Calif.
