Robert "Bob" George Durling

Robert “Bob” George Durling went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2013, at the age of 94. Robert was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Clarence and Anna Durling.

He served in the Navy from 1944 until 1945. He joined his father in the nursery business after the war. Durling Nursery was started by Robert’s father, Clarence, in 1926. Robert moved the business to Fallbrook in 1960. Robert and his son, Don Durling, together moved the business to De Luz in the early 1970’s.

Robert retired from the nursery business at the age of 92. His daughter Carol and husband Wayne Elder, their son Craig, wife Wendy, daughter Callie, along with grandson Kevin Durling are carrying on the family business.

Over the years, Robert enjoyed wind surfing, bowling, bicycling, and RV camping. He enjoyed helping his children with 4-H animals, show horses, and was a Walther League youth church group leader.

He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Fallbrook and a very generous contributor to ministry groups and churches around the world.

Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife Eleanor, his mother and father, and his sister, Irene Affleck. He is survived by his son Don (Peggy) Durling and three daughters Deanne Nerguizian, Carol (Wayne) Elder, Christy (Arnie) Westerhold, nine grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 7, 2013 with visitation at 12:00 and service beginning at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1620 S. Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook. Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
