Robert H. Hansen

Robert H. Hansen, 93, resident of Fallbrook, Calif., passed away on Feb. 17, 2013. Bob was born on Oct. 15, 1919, in Racine, Wis., and moved to California in 1969.

Bob was a legend in motorcycles and motorcycle racing, and best known for founding Team Hansen, a leading force in motorcycle racing in the 60s and 70s. He was also a senior executive at Honda and Kawasaki during that period. He was inducted into the American Motorcycle Association’s Hall of Fame in 1999.

Bob was a bomber pilot in WWII, and retired from the Air Force Reserve as a lieutenant colonel in 1979.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Kathy Dunkerley, and Roberta Hansen. He has four grandchildren: Lindsey Freehill, Laura and Jonathan Dunkerley and Jeffrey Hansen, and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the Berry-Bell and Hall Mortuary in Fallbrook, Calif. It has been suggested that donations be given to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame, 13515 Yarmouth Drive, Pickerington, OH 43147, which aims to preserve the heritage of motorcycling.
