Robert William McCloskey, 84, resident of Fallbrook, Calif., passed away on Dec. 30, 2012. He was born May 13, 1928 in Burlington, N.J. to Roberta and Joseph McCloskey. He graduated from Burlington High School and later attended the School of Cosmetology at Santa Monica City College in California.
Robert was a U.S. Army medic in the 82nd Airborne and worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 34 years. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a bodybuilder at Muscle Beach in Venice, Calif. until he met his wife Norma in 1954.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Norma McCloskey; daughter Bobbi McCloskey of Fallbrook; sons Michael McCloskey of Fallbrook, and Patrick McCloskey of Yucaipa, Calif.; granddaughter Michelle McCloskey of Alpine, Calif.; grandson Dan Beringhele of Chicago, Ill.; and sisters Pat Wichnowski of N.C. and Eleanor De Sante of N.J. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Parish.
