Bopf is up to bat again

Mr. Bopf, our “switch hitter” who votes against Pardee at the Fallbrook Planning Group and then votes for Pardee at RMWD, has stepped up to bat, amazing us all once again. He says the Glick recall would cost us “over one quarter of $1 million.” His logic is based on empty assumptions. First, the recall election will be a special election. Actually, it can happen at the November election with a projected cost of $800. Second, when Glick loses, the new director will cast the fourth vote necessary to “fire” the GM. This is not the reason for the recall. You and your old board appointed Glick with no regard for 425 citizens of Rainbow who signed a petition for another candidate, an outright insult to our integrity and the will of the people. We just want the opportunity to vote for our own representative and not have someone handed to us by four people who do not even live in Rainbow.

I detect a poorly disguised attempt to divert voters from their democratic right to elect their own representative.

Ratepayers in Division 3, take note: Director Bopf seems to now worry about ratepayers’ money when he and his old board:

1. Bought a water purification system for over $1 million without competitive bids.

2. Bought a sewer flush truck for $250 K without competitive bids.

3. Allowed the RMWD staff to increase by 38 percent, costing us over $1 million.

4. Raised our water costs on average by 10 percent in just the last year.

Bill, are you worried? You should be with your voting record.
