Easter, not just another day

With the Easter season and the schools on a break, there will be an abundance of time to consider both the time we are living in and the past. Happily, we have worshiped and praised the resurrection of the Savior, Himself conquering death. However, we are brought to the realization there has been a similarity to the agonizing of our current history-making Terri Schiavo case. Obviously, the consequences are far separated from the two incidents, but they’re still striking.

Christ was brought before the courts several times, to finally be turned down, as has Terri.

First the Sanhedrin met, against laws and tradition, to have the Romans lead their soldiers to the Garden of Gethsemane, then the crowd took Him to Herod from Herod to Pontius Pilot, back to Herod, who, ultimately, offered no help and Christ was turned over to the crowd, because that was the way it had to be for us to gain salvation. While we are not needing salvation, because Christ gives that to those who believe in Him and His resurrection, it may be for Terri’s accusers and their supporters as well as the judging authorities, they will find their salvation through the death of Terri, but Terri must die for this to happen, as Christ had to die for our salvation.

Christ had only minimal communication with His accusers; understandably, so has Terri. Not for the same reasons, though.

Christ had a more passive mother, because His Father had such a dominant part. To my knowledge, Terri’s mother hasn’t said anything; the father and other relatives have voiced their views. In the garden, Christ’s prayers were to pass the cup, but Thy will be done.

Christ had Judas and Terri has Michael, her husband, to betray them.

Judas committed suicide; Michael has the opportunity to be forgiven, if he repents and asks for forgiveness. Judas didn’t and can’t. Judas died before Christ. If Michael dies before Terri his salvation is, possibly, lost.

God could have intervened at any time, but He didn’t, at Christ’s death, because He had a larger purpose for us, but He may in this case, because He has a larger purpose for us, again. Something will come out of this case that will be redeeming and a lesson for all to learn.

Even if it is just to argue with me.

There is even a similarity to the war in Iraq and the tsunami.

If you have the faith of a mustard seed you can move mountains.

So, pray for Michael and his followers. They need the intervention.
