Hatfield is best choice

As a resident of North County inland, I have been following with interest the recent events surrounding the management and old board of Rainbow Municipal Water District. I’m concerned with the impact their actions will have on all of us in this region.

One case in point is a pre-annexation agreement that the board signed many months ago. The intent of this agreement is to construct a sewage treatment plant with open percolation ponds on the banks of the San Luis Rey River. This was done with no public hearings and very little discussion, and in spite of protests from members of the public who happened to attend the meeting where the vote was taken.

Although I do not live within the Rainbow Water District, I am a nearby neighbor. I’ve been watching as their mistakes continue to mount up — mistakes costly in dollars and in public trust.

On March 8, some of you can do more than just watch. If you are in the Rainbow Water District, take action. Elect Russ Hatfield to the board. He’ll be the kind of steward, like new board members Griffiths and Sundram, to restore accountability and true public service to your district.
