Pardee letter

If you live in the Rainbow MWD, you recently received a letter from Pardee Homes. It describes the proposal to annex 390 acres into the RMWD district. In return, Pardee will build a sewer plant on district property and give it to the district.

They don’t tell you it is located on the banks of the San Luis Rey River. They don’t tell you the signed agreement estimates the maximum savings at $5 per month for the existing 1700 sewer customers, which is only 24 percent of the total RMWD ratepayers.

Pardee proposes to build 1,200 homes at an intersection that already has casinos, the dump, the quarry and thousands of other homes planned. What a great deal for the ratepayers of RMWD! We get all the problems and liability in exchange for something that we didn’t want to begin with.

The RMWD board and staff have been secretly working this deal for 18 months. They did not seek one iota of public input in the planning. At the last minute they dumped the plan on us and voted to approve it the same day. Sounds like Prop O all over again.

When it comes to a public vote we will treat it the same way as Prop O, a 72 percent defeat.
