Teen Recovery Center closes!

On March 21 I was a guest at the final community meeting of the Teen Recovery Center in Fallbrook. This facility has been providing drug and alcohol counseling services to the teens of Fallbrook for the past six years and has served over 500 clients. These teens have been referred by the court system, and the schools, and others and have had success in becoming clean and sober, and staying that way. Now, this facility has closed and the clients are being transferred to a facility in San Marcos. The facility that has provided the same type of services for adults in Fallbrook has also closed. These closures were due to a lack of financing by the County of San Diego. It seems that without the local services, the teens and adults will be set up for failure in their recovery and will, in the end, cost the county a lot more than it would have spent to keep these local facilities open. I hope someone from the County of San Diego reads this letter, and I hope the funds to keep these programs open appear from somewhere. I know the yearly total for these two places is well over 200 teens and adults served, and it is such a shame that the funds are not available to help our community.
