Walk/Run to Feed the Hungry raises close to $6,000 to relieve hunger

Thank you, Fallbrook, for walking, running and providing funds to help the less fortunate at this special time of year. The eighth annual 5K Thanksgiving Walk/Run took place on a very cool, dry and comfortable day. The music and excitement at the food pantry before the walk and the camaraderie of participants afterwards, along with the tasty refreshments added to the joy.

So many people helped to make this a successful event! Church congregations, school clubs and athletic groups came out to help; honorary mayor Martin Quiroz ran the race and the NCL girls and moms assisted in many areas. Board members and volunteers of the Food Pantry came to lend a hand and the Volunteer Senior Patrol kept everyone safe on the roads and joined in the fun afterwards.

Two of Fallbrook High’s Warrior wrestlers, Zack Moistner and Bacilio Gaspar, were the first to cross the finish line, completing the run in approximately 25 minutes. Next, at 30 minutes, was Jorge Monasterio, followed by 12 year old Will Holston. The husband and wife team of Jason and Rachel Streets crossed the finish line just 33 minutes after the start. Congratulations to the winners and all who finished the walk/race!

The food pantry was fortunate to have 10 event sponsors who provided funds to support our work. And, thanks to the Village News for getting the word out to the community. All of the funds raised will be spent here, through the work of the food pantry. Thanks to all.
