We need Russ Hatfield

We learned in Sunday’s North County Times that “Rainbow Water District customers will soon learn about a major homebuilder’s proposal to pay for the construction of an $11-million sewage treatment plant near the San Luis Rey River ‘from a consultant hired by Pardee Homes.’

Well, gee whiz! What took them so long? Last July the Rainbow Board, after virtually NO public discussion until the day of the vote, approved the pre-annexation agreement that could lead to the construction. They’re finally getting around to telling the public????

How did the directors reach a decision after no public discussion? Did they talk about it in closed sessions and violate the Brown Act? Did they have serial meetings or telephone calls and violate the Brown Act? Or did they just get their marching orders again and toe the management’s line?

In the upcoming March 8 recall election, we need to add another person of integrity to the two recently elected directors on the board. Russ Hatfield will see to it that the public’s business is conducted in public and that public indebtedness will be determined by a public vote. No more back room decision making. Vote for Russ Hatfield.
