Hillery family members lend support to the Susan G. Komen event

FALLBROOK – Members of the Hillery family stepped forward in a bold way to show their support for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk to fight cancer by helping to raise funds to find a cure. Their actions were also in support of one of their own – Heather Hanlon, a Fallbrook resident. Hanlon, one of Bob Hillery and MaryAnn Hillery’s daughters, is a cancer survivor.

Fundraising activities included a comedy show organized by Rob Hillery at the Hard Rock Hotel in downtown San Diego. That was the third fundraiser he had held to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

“Rob wanted to do something; he felt helpless when his sister, Heather, a Marine wife and mother of four kids was diagnosed with breast cancer in April,” said his mother, Mary Ann Hillery. “Rob decided to raise awareness and money [for the foundation] and that is what he did.” Rob also held a show in Fallbrook with his father, Bob Hillery, where over $1,700 was raised and a show was hosted by Mary Ann in San Diego also.

Daughter Juls Hillery Chambers had several friends, students, and co-workers in Florida that joined her in donating funds to find a cure.

The Hillerys said they appreciated all those that contributed and supported their endeavors.
