Pets of the Week: 'Chaz' and 'Boomer'

FALLBROOK — Our first Pet of the Week is “Chaz,” a 13-year-old applehead Chihuahua weighing 6 lbs. Chaz is a wonderful senior dog looking for a nice, quiet lap to sit on. Neglected and abused at a puppy mill, where he never felt the sun shine outside of his cage, it took us an hour to get him to come to us, at first. He now greets us with a bark and a wiggle, ears straight up. You’d never know he’s a senior, as he can hold his own with the other dogs. He’s patient and tolerant with young children, but we’d like to see him “retire” with maybe a few weekly visits from some grandkids. Fine with cats too!

“Boomer” is an adorable female Jack Russell (possibly with Corgi) mix around 5 years old. She was named by her current foster family. She is small with very short legs. Boomer was abandoned to roam the streets of Fallbrook. She needs a permanent or even a foster home. House-trained and sociable, she absolutely loves men but does not do well with cats. Call Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary for info at (760) 644-0552 or (760) 731-2293.
