Effort to save mural underway

FALLBROOK — A Fallbrook landmark, the historic mural on Main Avenue, is falling apart. Located on the south-facing wall of the Fallbrook Tire Company next to 7-11, the sepia-toned mural is faded and peeling and in desperate need of work. The mural is a charming replica of an early 20th century photo of Fallbrook’s main street and was made possible thanks to the vision and generosity of the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club. The Fallbrook Beautification Alliance (FBA), charged with maintaining Art in Public Places, is looking for sponsors to underwrite the cost of refurbishing this beautiful mural.

“This wonderful mural depicting early Fallbrook is truly worth saving,” said FBA President Jerri Patchett. Restoring and graffiti-proofing the mural will cost $6,000. Anyone interested in contributing to the project and helping out is asked to contact FBA Mural Maintenance Chairperson Carol Reardon at (760) 731-6677.
