Men arrested following winter fatal assault

OCEANSIDE - Two men suspected of taking part in a fatal assault at a North County park last winter were arrested today.

Chris Augafa, 24, and David Ioane, 25, allegedly were part of a group that beat 24-year-old Mustafa Gordon to death at Buddy Todd Park in Oceanside three months ago, according to police.

A man walking his dog found Gordon's battered body about 5:45 a.m. Feb. 16.

Augafa and Ioane were booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, Lt. Leonard Cosby said.

Three other suspects in the case -- Angelo Doeing, 31, William Epenesa, 45, and Raider Seau, 33 -- remain at large. One or more of them may get around in an SUV with California license plates bearing the characters 7EEN834, according to police.

Authorities have disclosed no suspected motive for the killing.
