Mobile homes damaged in brush fire near Anza

ANZA - A brush fire that broke out just south of Anza this afternoon damaged seven mobile homes and caused three injuries before it was fully contained at 25 acres.

The blaze was reported around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Wellman and Terwilliger roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Three victims suffered minor injuries, one of them from smoke inhalation, and were treated at the scene by paramedics.

Five single-wide trailers -- one of which was occupied -- and two doublewide mobile homes sustained smoke and other fire-related damage, along with two storage sheds, two vehicle trailers and five cars, according to the fire department.

About 75 firefighters battled the blaze in 95-degree heat and light winds for three hours before gaining the upper hand. Crews from the U.S. Forest Service and San Diego County pitched in, backed by air tankers and helicopters dropping water and fire retardant.

The brusher was expected to be completely extinguished by 9 p.m.

It's not clear how the fire started.
