San Jacinto man previously convicted of possessing child porn arrested again

SAN JACINTO - A San Jacinto man previously convicted of possessing child pornography was behind bars today on suspicion of the same offense after deputies called to his home saw alleged explicit pictures of minors, according to the sheriff's department.

James O'Neill, 53, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, violating the conditions of his sex offender registrant status and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

According to the sheriff's department, on Thursday, O'Neill asked deputies to come to his home in the 2200 block of Lake Park Drive on a ''non- criminal call for service,'' and while at the residence, they ''observed what they believed to be sexually explicit photographic images of subjects under the age of 18.''

When a record check indicated that O'Neill had a previous conviction for felony possession of child pornography, the deputies arrested O'Neill's and seized his computer and several DVDs for further investigation.

The next day deputies served a search warrant at O'Neill's residence and found several hundred images of alleged child pornography, along with two handguns.

He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
