Fresh Mexican fare at Alberto's on Mission

On Mission Road near the corner of Main Street is a restaurant that serves fresh Mexican fare seven days a week. Alberto’s is a “clean, well-lighted place,” as Ernest Hemmingway would say. Small pots of silk flowers add color to the tables and weaved blankets and Mexican pottery adorn the walls.

Alberto’s menu is extensive and offers traditional Mexican fare such as enchiladas, tacos, and quesadillas. They also offer dishes that are traditional in Mexico but have not yet gained the same popularity in the United States. One of those dishes is Chicken Mole. The chicken is drenched in a spicy mole sauce, which is made with cocoa, chili powder, peanut butter and various spices. The chicken is then garnished with sesame seeds. The Chicken Mole combo is served with refried beans, rice, a flour tortilla and a garnish of shredded lettuce. Horchata, a delicious rice and cinnamon drink, is a good accompaniment to the mole. Alberto’s also serves other Mexican beverages, including Jamaica and Tamarindo.

On a hot day a good choice is the Shrimp Tostada, which is served cold. The dish has an abundance of shrimp and is garnished with avocado, diced tomatoes, diced onions and cilantro.

On weekends Alberto’s serves two Mexican specialties: Pozole and Menudo. Pozole is a thick soup made with pork, red chile, hominy and a variety of spices. Menudo is a delicious stew-like soup of tripe, red chile and hominy.

The restaurant also welcomes fax orders. Fax forms may be obtained at the establishment. After the order is faxed an Alberto’s employee will call to confirm and then assign a time for order pick-up.

Alberto’s of Fallbrook is located at 110 E. Mission Road, near the intersection of Main and Mission. Catering service is also offered. Please call (760) 723-6260 for catering information.
