Rosa's serves scrumptious seafood!

Flavor, quality and quantity. Where in Fallbrook can you get all three and still be able to afford to get the entire family out of the house for an evening? Rosa’s Mexican Restaurant! Their food is as traditional as tacos and as ambitious as Shrimp Sautéed in Garlic.

Perhaps you’ve passed Rosa’s and just overlooked it. The restaurant is tucked away in a far corner of the strip mall that houses Radio Shack and is much larger than appears from the street. Although the indoor dining area is cozy, the patio dining area is able to accommodate a much larger crowd. Surrounded by walls of green foliage the simple but attractive patio area is definitely ‘kid friendly.’

The restaurant staff concentrates their efforts in the kitchen and it shows. Leonor, the owner, has been serving up home-style Mexican food five years now and great care is taken to preserve the authentic food and flavor.

It will take several visits in order to sample the extensive seafood menu. Start with some fish soup, or shrimp soup, then sample the ‘Cocktail Pulpo’ (Octopus Cocktail) or the ‘Cocktail Ostion’ (Oyster Cocktail). If you really want the exotic try the ‘Pulpo a la Veracruzana’ (Octopus Veracruzana-style).

My favorite seafood menu item is the ‘Camarones Mojo Ajo’ (Shrimp Sautéed in Garlic), which is served on a sizzling skillet with a side of rice, grilled zucchini, yellow squash and potatoes. The dish is topped with sliced fresh avocado, which adds a cooling touch to the hot dish. Refried beans and tortillas complete the array of food. The grilled shrimp are large, succulent and flavorful. Tortillas served on the side taste homemade, but that’s only half true; the tortillas are made elsewhere but cooked on the premises. The rice is outstanding and is cooked with diced carrots and corn.

This summer, relax, listen to some ‘Salsa’ music and eat some great authentic Mexican food at Rosa’s. The restaurant also serves breakfast, but that’s another story. Rosa’s is located at 1075 S. Mission Road, Suite A, and is open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Please note that the restaurant accepts cash transactions only. Please call (760) 728-8006 for take-out orders.
