Vince's Pizza

A tantalizing blend of scents drifts from the door of Vince’s Pizza from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. It’s not easy maintaining a clean, fresh and fast “to go” establishment, but Vince Vinciguerra of Vince’s Pizza makes it seem so. He brought the enterprise to town in the fall of 2004 and it has been a bustling place ever since. One of the reasons for his success is that he has kept his prices low. Also, the pizza, bread and other menu items are “Always Fresh” in keeping with Vince’s motto.

Don’t have time to wait for a pizza to cook? A new item in the repertoire is “Pizza by the Slice,” which was initiated with busy people in mind. Vince’s pizza is stone-baked and available with a variety of toppings. Also new is the fresh Italian Bread that is baked twice a day and is soft and delicious. It’s great with just butter, or toasted, or as sandwich bread. The price, only one dollar a loaf, is unbeatable!

Want a pizza but too busy to run out? Road Runner Errands of Fallbrook can deliver one. First call the office at (760) 277-0089 to see if a delivery person is available, then call your order into Vince’s. Someone from Road Runner will take care of picking up the pizza for you. They are open during business hours, but for special events or large orders arrangements can be made in advance for after-hours delivery. Road Runner charges a fee of $10 for orders up to $100 and will deliver within five miles of Fallbrook.

Although Vince opened his pizza establishment in 2004, he has been involved in the Fallbrook restaurant scene since 1984 when he owned and operated a restaurant on the site where Rite Aid now stands. Also, he literally grew up in the business as his family operated an Italian restaurant in Inglewood.

It’s not called Vince’s Lasagna, but it could be since this dish is so popular! The lasagna is zesty and overflowing with cheese, meat sauce or meatballs. For an extra $1.75 each, sausage, sautéed peppers, mushrooms or zucchini may be added. Two slices of crisp garlic toast accompany each lasagna order.

The spaghetti and meatball order is only $4.50 and is served with two thick slices of garlic bread. Be prepared to save some for later, as the spaghetti is served in what seems like a bottomless bowl!

The menu also includes soup, 12” hot or cold sandwiches and family dinners. Vince also offers delicious Italian cookies. The almond and anise biscotti are wrapped in the tricolors of the Italian flag: green, white and red. The wrapping could come in handy for some customers, as those are also the colors of the Méxican flag. A flat cookie called a pizzelle, which is made on a small waffle iron, is offered in the licorice-like flavor of anise. These golden cookies are delicious with coffee or on their own.

Vince recently traveled to the deli hot spots of the country and brought back some new ideas. “We visited legendary delis in New York City and Cleveland,” Vince related. As a result of this trip he has increased the pizza slice size and has started baking more bread.

Vince loves what he does and loves visiting with his customers — it’s not hard to see why he is so successful. He and his staff are personable and the food is fresh and fast!
