Lewd behavior at Temecula parks reduced

Temecula police said that lewd acts at public parks have been dramatically reduced. Over the past six months, police have arrested 19 men at Temecula parks for committing lewd acts inside the public restrooms. They had learned that the restrooms were being used by gay and bisexual men for illegal purposes, so efforts were concentrated to those areas.

On June 23, officers returned to the Ronald Reagan Sports Park to determine if men were still coming to the park to commit lewd acts in the public restrooms. The officers made no arrests. Officers also checked other parks in Temecula and made no arrests.

While encouraged by the apparent success of this program, Temecula police will continue to monitor the parks to ensure this type of behavior does not return.

Anyone wishing to report suspicious activity at Temecula parks can contact Officers Boydd or Tinker at (951) 696-3179. Callers may remain anonymous.
