Aguigui wins World Championship title

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook resident Kalani Aguigui, a 2013 graduate of Fallbrook High School, recently traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete with her team, the California All Stars Lady Bullets, which ultimately won the World Championship title.

The competition was nationally televised on ESPN and included 82 teams from the U.S. and 32 countries, including the U.K., Korea, Norway, and Mexico. Aguigui’s team is based out of San Marcos and is composed of 20 young women, some who travel from out of state to be a part of this elite team. The team traveled to five different states to win the National Championship before competing for the world title.

Aguigui moved to Fallbrook at age 3 with her family. She began her love of tumbling and acrobatics at Fallbrook Gymnastics, then joined SCEGA Gymnastics Team which she competed with through Level 8, winning a state gymnastics title in 2007. She then went on to participate in Fallbrook High School gymnastics and varsity cheer.

In 2010, Aguigui tried out and made the California All Stars Competitive Level 5 Cheer Team. She said she welcomed the challenge of high level tumbling, stunting and acrobatics involved at the All Star team level.

Aguigui was recruited for college level athletics by the University of Oregon, Baylor University, University of Quinnipiac and Azusa Pacific University, all of which have competitive acrobatic and tumbling teams.

She chose to attend Azusa Pacific University and is studying biology/chemistry with the future goal of pursuing a doctorate degree in physical therapy.
