Anderson-Mitterling compete in OCR

They did it! Mikee Anderson-Mitterling, grandson of Don and Joan Mitterling, longstanding residents of Fallbrook, CA, and his teammate, David Hughes, had two goals going into the Rolex Miami OCR (Olympic Classes Regatta). The primary goal was to qualify first for the US National 470 Team, which they did, and in the process put 29 points on the second-ranked team. They also won the Quadrennium Kick-Off regatta leading up to the Miami OCR, taking six bullets in nine races. The second goal was to use the Miami OCR to train against some of the best in the world. And that goal was achieved, as in most of the races, when they ended up match-racing the Coster Brothers of the Netherlands (sixth at the 2004 Olympics and currently ranked 13th in the world).

To watch a video clip from Rolex Miami OCR, go to http://www.t2p.tv/guide/ocr05.php. It’s a great video clip of Mikee and Dave coming from behind to win one of the races. You’ll need to enter your e-mail address, but it’s free. Click on “Day 3.” To “Follow the Journey to Beijing” go to http://www.team2008.org and put yourself on the e-mail subscription. You’ll get an “up front and personal view” of what takes place at the regattas. You’ll get “the good, the bad and the ugly,” as long as it is fit to print.

Mikee is also business major and a two-time College All-American at the University of Southern California.
