Caron earns spot on all-academic squad

Bridgette Caron has earned a first-team spot on the PAC-10 all-academic softball team.

The 2002 Fallbrook High School graduate, who is now a junior at Arizona State University, was the Sun Devils’ starting outfielder during the softball season and accumulated a 3.67 grade point average for the academic year.

“It’s always good to do good in school as well as doing well on the field,” she said.

Caron was one of four Sun Devils players to earn positions on the conference all-academic team. Three of those players earned first-team berths while one was named to the second team. Arizona State was the only team to have four players on the all-academic squad. “Pretty exciting, actually,” she said of four members of her team earning such honors.

Caron, who is a dance major, transferred to Arizona State last fall from San Diego State University. During her two years at San Diego State, Caron made the Mountain West Conference’s first-team all-academic squad both years.

“I’m hoping to make it four next year,” she said of her third first-team all-academic selection.
